Algona

Algona is bordered on three sides by the Des Moines River and the wooded hills of Ambrose A. Call State Park. Learn about a fascinating local legacy: the World War II prisoner of war camp that housed more than 8,000 Germans and Italians here. Relax with a variety of recreational opportunities such as golfing, fishing, and camping, or take in a theater production or concert. Annual celebrations include Founders' Day and the annual Band Day Festival. Contact the Algona Chamber of Commerce at 515-295-7201 or Algona Web site
