The Reverend George B. Hitchcock House

Built in 1856 by Reverend George B. Hitchcock, a Congregational minister, this house provided shelter for escaping slaves prior to the Civil War. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006. In 2006, the Secretary of the Interior announced that the Reverend George B. Hitchcock House had been designated a National Historic Landmark (NHL). The House is open for guided tours starting May 1-August 31 Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays only. $5 cash/check per adult. No credit cards.
