Must Do's
Welcome to Creston, a community located in the beautiful rolling hillsides of southwest Iowa. It's the largest city between Des Moines and Council Bluffs, making it a great place to stop for a visit. Be sure to visit Creston's variety of shops and the Creston Arts Gallery and admire the community's 30+ murals scattered throughout town. Embrace the area's railroad history at the C.B. & Q. Restored Depot and learn even more local history at the Union County Historical Village and Museum. And you won't want to miss the local brews at Hot Air Brewing.

Outdoor Adventures & Exciting Eateries
Experience an array of outdoor recreational opportunities at the Lakes of Union County. The five lakes (including Green Valley, Three Mile and Twelve Mile Lakes) boast over 2,100 acres of water, four campgrounds and over 6,000 acres of publicly owned parks, woodlands, prairie, and wetland, all located within a 25-mile radius of Creston. Be sure to stop by McKinley Park to enjoy McKinley Lake, an 18-hole disc golf course and the paved 8-mile Park to Park Trail, which extends to the Green Valley State Park campground, where a grass trail continues around Green Valley Lake.

When you're hungry, enjoy the best of classic American cuisine at Anson's Bar & Grill, Willy's Bar & Grill or Mario's Sports Bar & Grill or delicious Mexican dishes at Casa de Oro. Or grab coffee and a sweet treat from the community's old-time soda fountain Adams Street Espresso or Java J's Coffee, Fudge & Gifts.

Community Highlights
Several events take place in Creston during the year. These include a traditional 10,000 Crestonians 4th of July Celebration and the annual Creston/Southwest Iowa Balloon Days, held the third Saturday/weekend in September. Creston also acts as the regional hub for business, education, medicine, industry, shopping and recreation, and caters to residents and visitors wanting small-town service with big-town products.
