Enjoy views of the Black Hawk Bridge, connecting Iowa and Wisconsin, from Mount Hosmer City Park. Lansing’s downtown area is a National Historic District that has several buildings constructed of local limestone and brick Italianate as well as a variety of great shops.

Join the locals and other travelers for Lansing’s annual Fish Days in August with events and activities for all ages. Before grabbing your pole for the day to fish the Mississippi River or Lansing Coldwater Stream, enjoy a hearty breakfast at Nutmeg’s Café & Bakery, where you can eat the Best Breakfast Burrito loaded with sausage, eggs and cheese, lightly fired in a crisp flaky flour tortilla.

Popular fish caught in the Mississippi are the highly prized walleye, northern pike, bass, sunfish and crappies. Clear Creek provides public fishing access to portions of this coldwater stream where anglers catch all three of Iowa’s trout species. Stay at the Red Barn Resort that intersects the two public fishing stream segments for easy access to Lansing Clear Creek.

After a long day on the river, stream or checking out the historic locations, enjoy Milty’s fish dinner, voted best on the Driftless Area Scenic Byway. Take the kids to the Driftless Area Education and Visitor Center. This interpretive center offers exhibits reflecting the cultural, recreational, natural and historical significance of the Driftless Area.
